8 Ways To Make Retirement The Best Years of Your Life

May 28, 2016 By Mark Hager

Do you feel like you’ve already had the best years of your life? Or, are you still creating it as you go along … filling each day with new experiences, learning, giving and living?

We’ve all heard people talk about their retirement experience; some good, some not so good. But, what it will be (or is) for you … well, that’s up to you.

Retirement, just like the rest of your life, is full of options.

So, be bold … seize the opportunity and act on those things you’ve always wanted to do. Learn to play the saxophone, go travel, take up a new hobby, register for some classes, or volunteer.

Keep building your best life.

To help, here’s some inspiration from Angel Carers.

Looking to convert my house to age in place.
Hand bars that are decorative…not Home Depot. Exterior railings to attach to the house to go down two steps. Again, decorative. Please advise website to find, if available.

      Hi, Marylin,

The first bit of advice is going to be talk to a local contractor … they will know what is readily available in your area, and can probably help guide you in making a decision. You definitely want to have a knowledgeable and experienced professional install any rails or bars used in your home! Now, a couple of products that might meet your requirements would be:

      1. Grabcessories has a nice selection (http://www.grabcessories.com/grabcessories.html).

      2. For other areas inside the home or for your stairs (I believe these are good for dry or wet conditions) you could look at Promenaid (https://www.promenaid.com).

      3. If you need a free-standing railing for your steps outside, you might also look at something similar to Iron X (http://www.fortinironworks.com/products/ironx.php).

Let us know if you need anything else.

I don’t drive and buses don’t go to the beach, I live in a very busy area, too busy. I’m low income,I don’t see my family. I don’t have any water near to see. I don’t have much to look forward to. Advice?

Denise, I think there are probably more opportunities near you than you know. You could volunteer, take up a new hobby with a group of other people … the possibilities are endless. If you would like some specific ideas, tell me what city you live in and I will send you an email with any information I can find.
