Want to Learn More About Having an Accessible Home? Watch This Video

January 24, 2019 By Mark Hager

Join environmental gerontologist, Nichole Kain, on a tour of the Welcome HOME bed and breakfast in Newburg, Wisconsin. This video was recorded via Facebook Live on March 24, 2018. The Welcome HOME (House Of Modification Examples) B&B is a non-profit established in 1989 with the purpose of educating the public on the importance of inclusive home designs. The home encourages visitors to try out various modifications before adapting their own home.

The Welcome HOME B&B sits on 18 beautiful acres with native plants and adapted trails. The home also includes an accessible basement which would make a lovely inclusive retreat center or classroom. Visit the Welcome HOME B&B website to schedule a free tour, reserve a room, or reach out to the founder, Diane Miller.

To learn more about the Welcome HOME B&B, listen to this episode of Home and Place Podcast where Nichole traveled to Wisconsin to interview Diane, tour the home, and stay the night in the B&B.

Nichole Kain, OTR/L, MA, CAPS is on a mission to change the way we build homes and communities in America. In addition to producing and hosting Home and Place Podcast, Nichole is founder of Home and Place Project — a residential universal design consulting firm headquartered in Colorado. As an experienced international speaker and engaging workshop facilitator, her work is based in solid research; and Nichole often acts as a bridge between academia and industry.
