Real estate choices: Downsizing mom and dad
Downsizing for Aging in Place

Moving your parents into a retirement community or assisted living facility can be difficult, heartbreaking, expensive, tiring or all of the above. Having a good plan is key.

An article from Newsday.com gives a little insight into things older people need to consider for this transition. It will give those who are (or will be) taking this step things to consider before you take the plunge.

  • Plan early, so when it’s time for them to make the move, everyone is informed.
  • Do your homework. Knowing the services that can/will be available to them will make everyone feel better.
  • Decide what will stay and what will go when you start planning. Do it early to make the transition easier.
  • Use the services of a Certified Transition & Relocation Specialist or a Senior Move Manager if you can afford to.
