Home decor ideas to enliven, brighten and rejuvenate your living spaces.

Our living environment is more than just a space we spend time in. The way it looks can influence our mood and feelings, and can have a positive or negative effect on our mental well-being.

If your current home environment does not fill you with positive emotions as soon as you step in, you owe it to yourself to make some changes. Bringing some good vibes into your space does not have to be difficult or expensive. Even minor changes, such as a bit of decoration, can go a long way in making your home spaces look more attractive.

Home decor ideas

Here are a few home decor ideas you should consider implementing for space where positivity can thrive!

Brighten it up

Bright, natural light is the source of life. It is only natural that a poorly lit room feels depressing. As little as opening your blinds or curtains every morning can mean a lot in terms of how your space makes you feel. If you usually keep them closed because the light is a bit strong, consider adding a screen instead to diffuse it. However, don’t despair even if your home does not have the most opportune natural light situation.

Tweaking the décor to make the most of what you have is the next best thing. If your space feels small and suffocating, painting the walls to a lighter color will open it up immediately. White walls also reflect light and will increase the intensity of the natural light coming in through your windows. Finally, you can leverage the power of mirrors. Add a large mirror opposite the windows and it will not only boost the illumination but will also add some elegance.

Plants for every room

If your space is currently void of greenery, you should rethink this decision. Plants are possibly the best way out there to bring life into space and make it exude good vibes. Greenery has notable psychological effects on us: the presence of nature relaxes the human mind and helps us relieve stress. Studies have shown that tending to plants can lower your heart rate, but greenery is also recommended for offices as it even helps you focus better. In addition, plants also boost your air with oxygen so they are even a healthy addition.

All in all, bringing nature into your home can be a life-changing decision. Plants can find their place in every room of your home: get a forgiving philodendron for your living room, a humidity-loving fern for your bathroom, and an undemanding ZZ plant for a less well-lit corner. If you want to leverage the power of Feng Shui, get a jade plant or some lucky bamboos for an extra boost.

Decorate with mirrors

Try to use mirrors in various shapes to get your rooms also brighter and different. To make it work better, use adequate mirrors, and vibrant or relaxing color lamps. In this way, that room will feel lighter and more relaxing for you. Not to mention, when guests are in these rooms, they’ll feel welcomed into a quaint and calm environment.

Add more color and texture

Color is an important element in interior design. It’s not simply for a visual effect: colors also influence our mood and the right color choices can liven up your space. Learn about color theory and repaint your walls to a pleasant hue that will coincide with your intended effect.

  • Do you want to add some energy to space? Go for yellow.
  • Or would you rather go for a relaxing vibe? Blue might be a better choice, then.

You also can add some interest and texture to your design by incorporating patterned porcelain tiles or even wallpaper. But, you don’t have to overwhelm your entire space with color. Keep it harmonious for the most part and introduce splashes of color to put a smile on your face. You can do that with décor pieces, such as throw pillows, flower pots and wall art.

Make it personal

Finally, don’t forget that you’re doing this for yourself and your personal preference should always take priority. Decorating the space in a way that is meaningful to you is the best way to make you feel happy and comfortable in it. Displaying art that you treasure, family photos that remind you of good times, or travel memorabilia are all great ways to add personality to every corner of the home. Looking at these things will always remind you of the good things in your life and give an instant boost to your mood.

Our homes should feel like a safe place where we can relax and unwind, while temporarily forgetting about our worries. Therefore, you shouldn’t hesitate to use these (or other) decor ideas in it in a way that makes you feel great!
