Aging in place can be beautiful – I liked the detail of the tall piece of granite making the wall off-balanced. We used a tiny ¼ ‘bump’ of a rounded piece of granite between the ‘bath’ area and the ‘room’ area, and used the same tile in a 3×3 and 2×2 with high coefficient of friction. Faucet on side of sink, when pulling up in a wheel chair, more accessible. There is also an 18”wX18” deep linen closet with rollouts & drawers next to the sink.

About Jane Regan
At HB Building and Design, we provide beautiful aging in place remodeling options. We specialize in barrier free bathrooms, as well as kitchens with special accommodations and stylish design to ensure you can easily prepare meals safely for as long as you live in your home.
We work with people to place grab bars, hand rails, stair chairs, interior and exterior elevators, and build access ramps and decks. From a simple change like replacing all the doorknobs with lever handles, to radical changes like adding an exterior elevator or changing all the flooring, there’s no time that’s too soon to start thinking about design for aging in place!
