Universal Kitchen Remodeling: Kerrie Kelly Design Lab

October 31, 2011 By Mark Hager

The goal of this Rocklin, California universal kitchen remodeling project was to create a kitchen with not only features that were usable to all ages, but appealed to all ages visually. As a remodel, the homeowners wanted rich color, layered light and accessibility.

This universal kitchen remodeling project includes rollouts were added to cabinetry at all levels (even the tall run of cabinets has a roll out for the cat.) Food is concealed and rolled out for eating ease! It has a lower table area for kids and family, upper bar for adults. There is a lowered sink area on other side of bar, as well as layered lighting overhead. General can lights, accent lighting for island pendants and task lighting under cabinets. The island size allows for wheelchair access and does not obstruct traffic patterns.

This universal kitchen remodeling project cost around $10,000, which included paint, lighting and roll outs in cabinets. click image for larger size
